Zexter’s works have been reviewed and published in The New York Times, The Boston Herald, Time Out Chicago, and The New Yorker.^[12] She exhibited at the Bronx Museum of the Arts in 1994. She has also participated in exhibitions at the Muriel Guepin Gallery, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, Hallspace Gallery, Creiger Dane Gallery,^[5] Robert Mann Gallery,^[13] Triennale Design Museum,^[14] and the Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta

Melissa Zexter è un’artista di Brooklyn che trasforma le fotografie in opere d’arte uniche alterando totalmente il lavoro originale aggiungendo un nuovo strato di ricamo a mano .

Intricate reti di fili colorati formano disegni e trame che aggiungono una nuova dimensione e ricontestualizzano l’immagine offrendo letture totalmente diverse all’originale. Femminilità, identità e ritratto sono gli assi centrali del suo lavoro. Ama fotografare donne e ragazze anonime in momenti di introspezione e con pose meditative, quindi reinterpretarle aggiungendo strati di fili colorati.

Il suo lavoro è stato esposto da gallerie negli Stati Uniti ed è stato pubblicato e recensito in numerose pubblicazioni come The New York Times, The Boston Herald, Time Out Chicago o The New Yorker, tra molti altri. Attualmente insegna fotografia alla Dalton School di New York.
